　ubuntu@ubuntu$　もしくは　tty1:login_のような画面でしょうか。私も１３日にアップグレードしましたが、このような状況にはなりませんでした。

　とりあえずログインした後、xstart　もしくは　gdm startとするとどういう結果になるでしょうか。試してみてください。

　１０．１０あたりではrecovery modeで起動できたのですが、１１．１０ではrecovery mode事態表示されなくなりましたね。

お答えいただいたのにお待たせして申し訳ありません。

gdm start は今から試してみます。

起動できないことと関係があるのか分かりませんが、
aptitude update
を実行したら、全ての項目が「(-5 - ホスト名にアドレスが割り当てられていません)」と言われてしまいました。

これも治るといいなぁと思います。

残念ながら、どちらも効果なしでした。
Ctrl+Alt+Delの方は再起動してもう一度同じ画面へ、F7の方はちょっと文字が出てそのまま変わらずでした。

aptは変わらずでした。

英語サイトを調べてました。現在はstep6ということになります。

Step 1 : Boot your Linux machine
Step 2 : Grub would start loading the linux distro
Step 3 : Then you are faced with the command line which asks for your username
Step 4 : Then enter your system username and password
Step 5 : Then Type startx .If this works, and doesnt give any error, then everything's fine , you dont need to edit xorg.conf .If the GUI still doesnt load, follow the next step ( step 6 )


Step 6 : Then type sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorgと入力して、実行。

Step 7 : Allow the setup to automatically recognize your card, leave most of the other settings to default.
Step 8 : Once done with that , you should be brought back to the command line
Step 9 : Now, just type startx
もう一度コンソール画面でstartxとすればいいのではないでしょうか。


Step 10 : Your, GUI should load now , without any trouble!!!

　私にはもうこれ以上の手段が見当たりません。どなたか別の方がフォローしてくださると助かります。

　最後に、Mamapapaさん

　電源を入れてからログイン画面が出るまでの間に、カーネル番号を列挙した画面（grub）があらわれませんか。もしその画面が見えているんであれば、recovery modeで起動できる可能性があります。failsafe Xが廃止になった場合の起動方法はそちらでしらべて下さい。
