初めて投稿します。
（投稿場所が合っていることを願いつつ）

ubuntu12.04のソフトウェアセンターからtgifをインストールしたところ、

>パッケージの操作に失敗しました
>ソフトウェアのインストールまたは削除が失敗しました。

というエラーウィンドウが表示されました。詳細メッセージは後に書きます。
ウィンドウを閉じるとUnityにtgifのアイコンが登録されましたが、クリックしてもウィンドウが出ません。
詳細エラーを見るに、前に入れたtexliveが影響しているようなのですが、
何が起きているのかよく分かりません。

実はこの操作は2回目で、1回目の後クリーンインストールをしています。
手順はメモしていたのでほとんど同じだと思いますが、どちらでも似たようなエラーが出ました。
（1回目のエラーについて記録をとっていないのが悔やまれます）
Ubuntu11.24インストール
↓
Ubuntu12.04へのアップグレード
↓
texlive2012のインストール

tgifにこだわりはないので、他のドロー系のソフトを使ってもいいのですが、
1回目のときはこのエラーの後にエラー（うろ覚えですがubuntuの内部のエラーという表記だったと思います。
tgifに関係がなさそうなところでエラーが発生しました。）がやたらと起きたので、
今回もそうなるようならクリーンインストールも考えています。
クリーンインストールせずとも元に戻す方法か、このままtgifを使えるようになる方法があればご教示ください。
