こちらについてはミラーサーバー側の都合もあるので、数時間〜1日くらい置いて再度アップデートしてみてください。
それでもエラーが出る場合は、既に言われている様に別のミラーサーバーに変更するのが良いと思います。

こちらについては、mate-desktop.orgのレポジトリが削除されているのが原因だと思います。
さらに、何故かubuntu 14.04(trusty)にも関わらず、ubuntu 12.04(precise)のレポジトリまで登録されています。
レポジトリが削除される前に登録してパッケージを導入していたとすれば、preciseとtrustyの物が混ざっている為、色々とおかしくなっていそうな気がします。
(両方を有効にして依存関係等のエラーも無く導入出来るのかも謎ですが・・・)

ubuntu 14.04向けmateのレポジトリはこちらではないでしょうか。
既にtrustyとpriceseが混同されたmate-desktop.orgのパッケージが導入されている状態で、mate-desktop.orgのレポジトリを無効/削除し、ubuntu 14.04向けmateのレポジトリを登録したとしても、そこから正常に置き換わる形で導入できるかは解りません。

目的が何なのか良く解りませんが(おそらくmateデスクトップを導入したい?)、ubuntu-mateのページからubuntu-mate 14.04.2のisoイメージがダウンロードできるので、大事なデータをバックアップしてからクリーンインストールした方が安全かと思います。

チェックを外したリポジトリーは、たぶんリポジトリーの失敗の表示が出た時、いろいろいじくっているうち、チェックを入れてしまったのかもしれません。
ubuntu１２，０４のリポジトリーがいつ入ったかは検討が付きません。
ご指摘の、mateのリポジトリーの取得画面で、端末から入力した結果リポジトリーが全てmateの（trusty)に書き換わっていたので、再起動してmateで起動でき、今のところ問題なく使えていますので、このまま使ってみたいと思います。
念の為、ubuntu-mate 14.94.2のisoイメージをダウンロードしておきます、ありがとうございました。
