chromebookにchrootでubuntu14.04を入れて使っています。プリンターはHPのOfficejetPro6830で、これを無線ルータを介してネットワークプリンターとして使っています。
ubuntuでもこのプリンターを使うつもりで、システム設定ー＞プリンターと進むとプリンターlocalhostというダイアログが表示されますが、その中の”追加”ボタンが薄い表示で押せなくなっていて、”印刷サービスは利用できません。このコンピューター上でサービスを開始するか、別のサービスに接続してください”と表示されます。ダイアログの中の”接続”をクリックすると、cupsサーバーに接続ダイアログが出て、cupsサーバーはlocalhostになっています。ダイアログの中の”接続”を押すとcupsサーバーエラーが出ます。
そこでcupsについて以下のコマンドを打ってみました。

sudo service cups status
status: Unknown job: cups

sudo service cups start
start: Unknown job: cups

sudo apt-get install cups
パッケージリストを読み込んでいます... 完了
依存関係ツリーを作成しています               
状態情報を読み取っています... 完了
cups はすでに最新版です。
cups は手動でインストールしたと設定されました。
アップグレード: 0 個、新規インストール: 0 個、削除: 0 個、保留: 0 個。

cupsが動いてないようですが、インストールしようとすると最新版が入っていると言っているように思います。
linux初心者なので、どこをどうすれば良いのか分かりません。
解決方法をご教示いただけないでしょうか。よろしくお願いします。
