bluetoothヘッドセットがデバイスとして登録されない

初投稿です。

Bluetooth、pulseaudioのトピックは概観したのですが、解決しませんでしたのでお知恵をお借りしたいと思います。

Ubuntuのバージョンは9.04です。試行錯誤の過程で9.10にアップデートしましたがログイン後にフリーズするため、
9.04をCDからインストールしなおしました。

上記リンクの方法にしたがってbluetoothヘッドセット(Buffalo BSHSBE06)をヘッドセットサービスとしてペアリングすること
までは成功しました。
ですが、Pulseaudioマネージャで、このヘッドセットがデバイスに加わっていないのです。

設定ファイルの変更などでヘッドセットサービスをデバイスリストに加える方法があるでしょうか?

ちなみに /etc/pulse/default.pa の中身は以下のようになっています
