と入力してENTERキーを押すと、読み込み専用（書き込み禁止）状態でパッケージの取得元の設定ファイル（/etc/apt/sources.list）がgedit(テキストエディタ）で開きます。その全て（実は先頭に#のある行は要りませんが）をこちらにコピー＆貼り付けしてください。geditは閉じてしまえば良いです。

Proxy（cache機能付き)が間に入っていると、何度やってもチェックサムエラーという展開が起こりえるので、一度他のアーカイブサーバーに変更（システム→システム管理→ソフトウェア・ソースを開いて、どこか他のサーバーを選択）して試して頂けるでしょうか。

ubuntu-ja.list
の内容も投稿してみていただけますでしょうか。

また、hitoさんの投稿より、ネットワーク接続にキャッシュ機能付きのProxyサーバを介していると、チェックサムエラーがでる可能性があるようです。ネットワーク接続時に明示的にProxyは介したりはしていないでしょうか。
もし、Proxyを介している場合、Proxyなしでネットに接続することは可能でしょうか。

ubuntu-ja.listの内容も問題無さそうですね。
そうなるとProxyが変なキャッシュを覚えていて、チェックサムが合わない->異常な状態を見なされダウンロードできない、という動きをしているのかも知れません。

申し訳ないのですが、こういう場合、どうすれば良いか私にはわかりません。
ネットワーク管理者の方と相談して頂くしかないように思います。
