L-02Aでネット接続

Ubuntu9.10でhttp://dyoko.blog95.fc2.com/blog-entry-372.htmlやhttp://blog.37to.net/2009/01/ubuntuemobiled21lc/を見ながらDocomoのL-02Aを使ってネット接続に挑戦しています。

コード:

$ ls /dev/ | grep ttyUSB
ttyUSB0
ttyUSB1
ttyUSB2

と認識はしているようです。
gnomepppでコネクトすると

コード:

--> Initializing modem.

--> Modem not responding.

とゆうlogで繋がりません。ネット上のほとんどの事をためしてみたつもりなんですが分かりません。
どうしたらいいでしょう？

すいません。付け足しておきます。L-02Aの場合のinit Stringはinit1がATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 でinit2がATでした。おさがわせしました。
