gsmartcontrol が segfault

お世話になっています。
Ubuntu bionic (18.04 LTS）環境にて、gsmartcontrolがいつの間にか起動できない状態になっていました・・。
コマンドラインから起動しようとすると下記のような感じでsegfaultしてしまいます。

$ gsmartcontrol

調べているのですが、なかなか解決できず、何かヒントだけでも頂ければと思います。
（もちろん解決策がすぐ分かる場合はそれを教えて頂けると幸いです）

コード:

$ sudo apt purge gsmartcontrol

で一旦完全削除してから

コード:

$ sudo apt install -y gsmartcontrol

でインストールし直しても、特に変わらず改善しません。
