システム・ログを参照してシステム起動時、NICがどのように評価され認識されたのか
確認してください。もし内容が解らないのであればNIC関係が評価されている前後を
ここにアップしてください。メッセージ内容を理解できる方からのアドバイスを得ることが
出来るでしょう。

チップはMarvell Topdogです。(lspci -vの"2a0b"がヒント。"marvell 2a0b"でググると出てきます)。

遅くなりすみません。週末ちょっとアクセスできなかったもので・・・
まずWin用のDriverなんですがBuffaloのサイトで探すと今使っているag300n5.sysってやつ（'07.5.21)がOnlyOneのようです。
取り合えずndiswrapperでその他のDriver色々(.inf)読み込ませみましたがハードが見つからないとのつれない返事でした。そのあとMarvellでTopdogのWinとLinux用Driverを探したのですが見つけられずです。
dmesgの結果は以下の通りです。（長くなってすみません！全部載っけちゃいました）
もし何か判れば教えて頂きたく。です。因みに下記はカードを挿入した状態でPCを起動したものです。
まあ、最悪使えなければ元(NEC/Atheros)にもどしますけど。このカード使いだしてから何故か時々PCがフリーズしてしまいますし。今回はカーネル 2.6.27-9-genericになってます。

hitoさん有難うございました。
現状の小生の乏しい知識ではついていけなくなってしまいました。当面はAtherosに戻して使用していきます。
ただご教示頂いた方法についてトライしてみたいので宜しければ設定の方法を具体的に教えて頂けませんでしょうか？
ちょっと調べてみるとsysctlってコマンドが使えるのかなと思ったのですが、もしカーネルの再構築が必要であれば諦めます。
