Ubuntu8.10です。
参照した情報はムック本の「LinuxMonkey」です。

VMWareのサイトでユーザー登録を済ませた後、tarボールをダウンロード。
tarボールを展開し、下記コマンドにてVMwareServerをインストールしました。

KAMUYCIKAP% cd ./vmware-server-distrib/
KAMUYCIKAP% sudo ./vmware-install.pl

対話的に色々質問されましたが、全てEnterキーを叩きました。
※yesともnoとも入力していません。
　全てEnterキーを叩きました。

結果は下記の通りです。

The configuration of VMware Server 2.0.0 build-122956 for Linux for this
running kernel completed successfully.

無事にインストールが終了した様子なので、本の通りに

「アプリケーション」→「システム」→「Virtual Machine Configuration」

を探したのですが・・・・アプリケーションメニューの中にシステムはありません。
システムメニューの中にも「Virtual Machine Configuration」はありません。

どうやってVMWearを起動するんでしょうか？？？？

識者の方、御教示願います。
