CPUのcore2duoには負荷がかかっていない時は、動作周波数や動作電圧を自動的に下げるEISTという機能があるようです。
自分のはE6300で1.86GHzですがパネルにCPUの周波数を表示していますが常に1.60で負荷がかかると上がります。BIOSもEISTはenableになっていますがEISTが有効になっていないと思い、このサイト

を参考にcpufrequtilsというソフトをsynapticから入れて% cpufreq-infoと端末にうったけどだめ、次にこのサイト

とでたのですが2番目のサイトにある次の説明
そこで、
# modprobe speedstep-centrino
（/etc/modules に追加しておく）
の「/etc/modulesに追記しておく」以下がわかりません。
PCにはubuntu8.10だけはいってます。

どなたか詳しくやり方の続きをお教えねがいます。
