grubのmenu.lstのXP(を指すはずだった部分)の記載がおかしくなってしまったため、Invalid or Unsupported Executable Formatの表示がでるようになっているのではないでしょうか。

インストール時に使用したライブUSBのパーテーションエディタで、ファイルを確認したところ以下の様になっていました。

＞でも、外付けHDDをext4でフォーマットしたために、『サポートしていないフォーマットです』といわれているのですから、単純にext３に戻せば解決するのでは？

ext4ファイルシステムからext3へと戻す作業というのは簡単にできるものなのでしょうか・・・?

＞Ubuntu側の/boot/grub/menu.lstのWindowsの呼び出しに相当する部分を下記のように書き換えてみて下さい。

これは上記した物の

の方ですね。#ではじまる行はコメント行であるためGRUBからはないものと扱われます。

正直初めて知った昨日で自信がないですが。。

「/boot/grub/menu.lst」ファイルを編集するには管理者権限が必要となります。
管理者権限で操作するには「端末」で「sudo」コマンドを使用します。sudoコマンドを使用するときはパスワードを求められますので、ご自身のパスワードを入力してください（入力中に入力文字は表示されませんので、ご注意を）。

以下のコマンドで目的のファイルを編集出来ます。
sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst
