VAIO VGN-TX92S に Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eftを入れて使っています。

　解像度 1440X900
上記の外部ディスプレイにD-sub端子でノートPCと接続してデスクトップを表示したいのですが、xorg.confをいじってもなかなかうまくいきません。
デュアルヘッドでなくても、メインディスプレイと同じが面画が表示されるか、もしくは、外部ディスプレイだけが表示されるようになればうれしいので、知恵をお貸しください。お願いいいたします。
