よろしくお願いいたします。
ubuntuを利用するようになって、しばらく経ちますが一、二ヶ月前から、ディスプレイに表示される色がおかしな状態になっているのです。
説明が難しいのですが、グラデーションがうまく表示されない、明らかにおかしな色で表示されているなどの現象が出ているのです。ubuntuを始めた当初は正常に表示できていました。ある日から突然です。現在はubuntu9.10をいれ、LXDEを使用しています。

また、初心者フォーラムで症状は違いますが、同様にディスプレイについて質問していた方の情報を参考に、端末入力したものをコピーしてみました。

まず一つの切り分けとして、LiveCDで起動させるとどうなりますか？　Windowsなどの他のOSでも構いません。
それらでもおかしくなるようでしたら、ハードウェアの故障や接触不良が考えられます。

それらでは問題がないということであれば、端末から以下のコマンドを実行してみてください。

grep -i depth /var/log/Xorg.0.log

考えられるとしたら、カラーテーブルを使用するようなカラーモードになっているとかでしょうか。

返事が遅くなりました。
CD版のubuntu試してみました。
結果はこちらもおかしな状態でした。残念です。
接続上の問題でしょうか？パソコンが10年近くの代物で古く、ubuntuを気に入って使用しているのですが、ディスプレイの交換が必要なのかもしれません。

すみません、#2はちょっと端折りすぎました。
切り分けは、LiveCDはLiveCDでもバージョンの違うもの、8.04あたりで試していただけると良いかと思います。Windowsが入っているなら、そちらの方がより確実です。
ハードの故障とわかっても、ビデオチップの故障なのかモニターの故障なのかはわかりませんので注意してください。

また、表示色の挙動が、アクティブにしたウィンドウが綺麗に表示されるように色が切り替わるというのであれば、#2のコマンドを実行してみてください。いや、「grep -i framebuffer /var/log/Xorg.0.log」でお願いします。マシンのメモリ搭載量も教えてください。

ありがとうございます。
別で立ち上げたのは9.04で、現行は9.10なのです。

コマンドを試してみました。なにかわかるでしょうか？
grep -i framebuffer /var/log/Xorg.0.log

メモリについては、また後ほど記載したいと思います。

コマンドの結果を見ると、色深度による色の崩れではないですね。そして、正常に起動できていたバージョン？のLiveCDでもおかしくなると。
システム的な異常はあまり感じられませんし、年代物であるということで、私の見解としてはハードウェア的なトラブルを疑った方が良いのではないかといったところです。（何となくビデオチップの故障ではないかとは思うのですが、判断がつきません）
とりあえず大切なデータは速やかにバックアップし、PCの買い替えを検討された方が良いと思います。
