Ubuntu10.04LSTを使用しておりますが、低解像度でしか起動しない為、困っております。
どなたかご教授いただければと思い、投稿させていただきました。

希望の解像度　→　1024 x 768（もしくはそれ以上。）
現在の解像度　→　800 x 600
使用しているマシン　→　NEC Express 5800 110Eg
OS　→　Ubuntu10.04LST （Ubuntu10.10へアップグレードすることはできません。）
ユーザー数　→　2ユーザー

状況：
2ユーザーあるうち、1つのユーザーのみ常に800 x 600の解像度で起動してしまいます。
もう1つのユーザーにつきましては1024 x 768で表示されます。

その他いろいろ閲覧させていただきました。

/etc/X11/xorg.confを変更したり、cvt、xrandrなどで1024 x 768に変更したりしましたが
どうもうまく1024 x 768で表示されません。
/etc/X11/xorg.confで1024 x 768を指定しているつもりなのですが、うまく表示されない為、
xrandrのnewmodeで1024 x 768を指定して、一旦は表示できるのですが、シャットダウン後、
もしくは再起動後には800 x 600の解像度へ戻ってしまいます。
うまく解像度を変更できないユーザーで[システム]→[設定]→[モニタの設定]画面では
800 x 600までしか表示されませんのでそれ以上の解像度には変更できない状況です。
