初心者です
ubntu8.04 LSTをインストールする際にRAIDBOX(acs-75170)を使用して
インストールを実行すると該当するHDDがみつかりませんとなり先に進めず困っております
ちなみにRAIDBOXを外してHDDのみだと問題なくインストールできて安定して動作します。
現状で行っているのはインストールの最初でF6を押下して起動オプションで
all_generic_ide
all_generic_ide=1
irqpoll all_generic_ide=1
などを追加して試しているのですがHDDの認識の画面で該当なしとなり上手くいきません。
もしかしてオプションの書き方に問題があるのかもしれないので詳しく載っている
サイトなど教えていただけると助かります。
お手間を戴き説明頂ければなおありがたいです。
起動オプション file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu-server.seed initrd=/install/initrd.gz quiet --
オプションは最後の-- の次に記載して実行してます。
説明が不十分かもしれませんがよろしくお願い申しあげます。

エラーはこのようなものが出ます
インストールCDは
ubuntu-8.04.4-server-i386.iso
になります。よい意見をお待ちしております。

エラーメッセージ「ata3.00 revalidation failed」 で、ググると、
(errno= -5) が、SATAかJMicromサポートの問題らしく
"acpi=off noapic"
を付けてみろと出ました。
似たような問題だろうと思いますので、試してみては?

ご指摘通り行ってみたんですがやはり
ata3.00: revalidation failed (errno=-13)
となりHDDは認識されません。というか精確にはRAIDBOX(acs-75170)を
1つのHDDとして認識していないのだと思います。
BIOSではRAIDBOX(acs-75170)をちゃんと認識するのですが
ubuntu8.04LSTをインストールする時のみこの状態です。
また何かありましたら教えてください。

チップセットは、IntelG31+ICH7のようですので、通常、起動オプションは不要だと思われます。
となると、RAID BOX acs-75170は、全くLinuxからは使えないもののようなきがします。
ただ、バージョンは失念しましたが、デスクトップ版のインストーラで、HDD構成によっては、HDDがインストーラから見えなくなる状況ということがありました。
この場合は、LiveCDやAlternateCDからは見えていました。
ubuntu-8.04.4-server-i386.isoをお使いのようですが、一度、デスクトップ版のLiveCDを起動し、同様にHDDが見えないのか確認しては如何でしょうか?
UbuntuのLiveCD以外にも、KNOPIXやFedora等でも試してみることを勧めます。
どれでも見えなかったら、私の手には余ります。
見えたら、そのLivCD(/DVD)でパーティショニングをしてしまいましょう。

ファームウェアは古くありませんか?
HDD側の転送モードは調整しましたか?
エラーコードの一覧が無いので、何とも言えませんが、少なくともできることと言えば、その箱自身とHDDが相互にきちんと動作する状況を作ってやる事じゃないかと。
普通にそこらで買ってくるHDDは、その箱で使うには転送モードが異なって居るんじゃないかと思います。
ジャンパがなくてもベンダが提供するツールで転送モードを固定できることがありますので、よく確認してください。
後は、Readyになるまでのウェイトが足りてないなんて事はこの手の物でありがちだったりしますが。
電源入れて一呼吸置いてからリセットしてみるとか。無いとは思いますけどね…。

すみません。この手順がよく分からないです。何か参考になる方法など教えていただけますか

はい、SATA1.5Gb/sで動作するST380013AS(Seagate)を使用してます。当初3.0Gb/sで動作するHDDにジャンパーピンで1.5Gb/s
に動作を固定するHDDを使っていたのですがこのメーカーが動作確認されているもので確認してます

はい、最終のものを適用しております。

windows XP ubuntu10.04LST Desktop版 Debian4.0にてインストールを確認しました。
問題なく使えました。

インストールの時にデバックが取れたのでIpアドレスを192.168.*.*と変更してありますがその中のsyslogをこのに貼り付けます。

問題なく使えました。
基本的な問題として、インストラーがRAID対応になったのは10.04からで、Ubuntu8.04では対応になっていなかったと思います。
そのため、acs-75170用のドライバーがあるかどうかは別として、RAIDを使うときにはServer版かAlternate版を使う必要があったと思いますが、どうしても、8.04を使う必要があるなら、Alternate版をDLしてインストールできるか試してください。

製品について、重要なところが1つよくわかりません。
PCとの物理的なI/Fがなにになるのか というところです。
SATAのケーブルやIDEのケーブルになっていて、そのRAID BOX自体が、単一のHDDに見せかける機能を内蔵している・・・ような印象を受けるのですが、製品のページみてもよくわかりませんでした。
ぱっと思いつくI/Fは、
・SATAのケーブルで、M/BのSATA端子に接続する。OSからは1台のSATA-HDDに見える。
・IDEのケーブルで、M/BのIDE端子に接続する。OSからは1台のIDE-HDDに見える。
・USBのケーブルで、M/Bの内蔵USB端子に接続するか、外部のUSB端子に接続する。OSからは1台のUSB-HDDに見える。
・PCIカードになっていて、PCIカードバスに接続する。OSからは、1つのHDDコントローラに見える。
・PCIeカードになっていて、PCIeカードバスに接続する。OSからは、1つのHDDコントローラに見える。
・その他。
あたりでしょうか。いずれでしょうか?

お尋ねの件ですが
*LiveCDには、「システム」ー「システム管理」メニューにパーティション・エディタ「gparted」がありますので、それで領域を分割、確保できます。
一旦、全領域削除すれば、ディスクのパーティションテーブルも再作成できます。

I/Fとはインターフェースという意味でしょうか。それならマザーボードとRAIDBOXはsataのケーブルで接続しております。
ご指摘のようにSATAのケーブルでマザーボードのSATA端子に接続してOSからは1台のSATA-HDDに見えます。
実際にはインストールできていないのでOSレベルでは不明ですがBIOSではそのように認識されてます。
ちなみにDebian4.0では ATA ACCUSYS ACS75170 74.53GB と認識されております。
メーカーのサイトも情報が不十分だったので手探りでやってます。また何か情報がございましたらよろしくお願いします。

このOSで稼動するアプリケーションの運用のために必要となります。そもそもこのRAIDBOXを使用しなければ
よいのでしょうが手元にあり、いざという時にはやはりRAIDが必要なので何とかしたくてこの状態です。

# 若干本筋からは離れますが、この手のデバイスメーカーにいたりなんかしたので一応……。
実はこの種の(1台のHDDに見せてくれる)ハードウェアは、ATAやSATAのプロトコルをフルにエミュレーションしてくれないので、Windows以外だとちゃんと動きません(メーカーもテストしてない)、といった話がしばしば起こります。ので、Ubuntuで動かそうと思ってこの手のものを選定すると、かえってハマる、ということが起こります。
で、この種のデバイスの中でも、Accusysの内蔵RAIDのたぐいはかなり激しくハードウェアやOSを選ぶので、明らかに見えない、という場合は素直に諦めるしかない、という感じです。今回の場合だと、ATA/SATAデバイスとしてprobeしたあと、期待する応答が返ってきていないのでそのままofflineにしているので、たぶん動かないケースのような、マザーボード側のBIOS更新で動くようになるような、といった気配です。

いろいろ詳細を書かないので、情報が錯綜しているようにも思えます。
ソフトウェアRAID、FakeRAID、ハードウェアRAIDに付いては今回は関係ないと思うのですが・・・。
製品仕様を見れば、用意されたインターフェイスからそれ違うってわかりそうなものなのですけれど。
ただ、状態を認識するツールが付いていると言うことは、コマンドは普通のHDDと違う応答をする可能性は高いわけで、独自拡張された部分をうっかり叩いているのかも知れません。
が、この製品仕様でOS側のRAID云々は関係なかろうと。
8.04デスクトップ版でのインストールもできないようなら、8.04系で使われているドライバが要求しているコマンドに応答しないということですから、簡単にはうまくいかないかも知れませんね。
普通に言われているオプションでは恐らく解決しないのではないかと。デスクトップ版で動くのならオプションとか、コンフィギュレーション周りだけ弄ってリビルドすれば動くような気はします。
頑張ってみるのなら、動く10.04の該当ドライバと差分を取ってバックポートしてみるとか。
コンフィギュレーションの違い程度なら楽ですが、書き直されている部分があると大変そうです。
でも、本来応答すべきコマンドに正しく返事をしない似非SATAドライブが信頼性に足るのか?っていうとちょっと怖い気もしますが・・・。

そもそもこのRAIDBOXでは、すんなりとインストールが出来なくてHDDのみでは問題なく使用できるということは
つまり、もし運良く設定できたとしてもアップデートやいろんな保守作業で何かある度にこの問題を解決しないと使えないというのは
とても通常使う状態のものではないと認識するべきなのだと分かりました。
インストール時に起動オプションがあったのでもしかしてこれをキチンと理解すればインストール出来るのかもと思い込んだ
結果が今回の状態だと思います。
いま一度、構成などを検討し直してやってみます。
