適用できるかの第一関門は、適用しようとされているハードのスペックです。
古い機種ならハードの特性上から制限があり、できないことが多々あります。
アドバイスを受けるためには、ハ-ド環境を提示することが基本です。本人しか分かりませんので。。。

蛇足ですが、$ lshw このコマンドは、正しくは $ sudo lshw です。
ハードの提示には、$ lspci 程度でも十分です。
さて、うらやましい程のハイスペツクのマシンですね。必要条件は満足しています。
ただ、ほぼ間違いなく適用できるだろうと推定できますが、残念ながら保証はできません。
同様な機種を保有されている方のコメントを期待してください。

仕組みとしてはPCにインストールされたGRUB2のメニューファイルにUSBデバイスのエントリーを追加するものです。
スクリプトが成功する前提としてはwikiに書かれている様にGRUB2をインストールした内蔵HDDを使用してエントリーを追加します。
USBストレージの起動はエントリーを追加したPCからのみ可能です。
