ｕｂｕｎｔｕ10.10で無線LANの繋ぎ方がわかりません

ｕｂｕｎｔｕ10.10を使っています。
PCはGatewayのLT1001jを使っています。
このｐｃには内蔵の子機？が入っているのでこの内蔵の無線ＬＡＮを使おうと思っています。
このｐｃでは以前Windows　ｘｐを使っていました。
それでWindows　ｘｐを使っていた時にには内蔵の子機で無線ＬＡＮに接続できました。
ちなみにルーターはnecのやつを使っています。
超ｐｃ初心者ですがご回答のほどよろしくお願いします。

によると、無線LANは正常に動作するようです。

スクリーンショットが11.04のものなので多少見た目は異なりますが、ほぼ、

と同じ手順で無線LANに接続できるかと思います。

それでは、どこまで正常に動作していて、どこの設定が悪いのか、
あたりをつけるために下記のコマンドを実行してみて、出力を投稿してみて下さい。
なお、コマンドは、アプリケーション→アクセサリ→端末を起動して、そこで実行して下さい。

また、ルータの型式も投稿願います。

まず、最初にお詫びと訂正です。
lfconfig
を実行して下さいと書いていましたが、正しくは、
ifconfig
です。すみません。
ただ、iwconfigの時点で大体の状況は掴めました。

lshwの結果ですが、無線LANデバイスはwlan0のインターフェース名で認識されており、問題なく動作しているように見えます。

手元の環境が11.04であるため、10.10でも同じか確証はありませんが、11.04では上記のデバイスに対応するカーネルモジュール(ドライバ)はath5kしかなく、他のドライバと混在して不安定な動作をしているということも無いと推測します。
ここまででデバイスの認識に問題はなさそうであると推測できます。
あとは、設定の問題です。

SSIDが設定されていないようです。

ステルス機能がOFFの場合、SSIDの選択ミスが無いか、
ステルス機能がONの場合、SSIDの入力ミスが無いか、
に注意して、もう一度、設定してみて下さい。
判らないところなどがあれば、どこが判らないか、どのような操作をしたのか、など詳しく状況を添えて質問して下さい。

前述のように誤記してしまっていました。ifconfigが正しかったのですが、SSIDが設定されていないことが問題なので、ifconfigの出力は今は必要ありません。

からマニュアルをダウンロードしてみてみました。
P95(5-5)を見るとSSIDのステルス機能は初期状態では無効になっているようです。
またP93(5-3)を見ると、デフォルトでは、

暗号方式: WEP128
キーインデックス: 1
SSID: 本体のラベルに印刷
WEPキー: 本体のラベルに印刷

となっているようです。
もし、ご自身で設定変更されていれば、変更後の内容は把握されているはずだと思います。
変更した覚えが無ければ初期値のままのはずです。
# ただし、WEP128は強度が弱いと言われているので、強い暗号に変えていただいた方がよいような気もします。

SSIDがよく理解できないのですが、・・・

私の初歩的なミスのせいでご迷惑をかけてしまいました。
原因はパスワードの所で大文字と小文字のミスをしていました
