ログインしていません。
PCを作りUbuntuをインストールしたのですが、初めから音が出ません。
スピーカーは背部のマザーボードの端子につなげています。
ミュートなどは確認しました。
どなたかお願いします。
マザーボードはASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 です。

Oneiricで2011-10-05時点のバグ報告があり、解決は困難です。
[Asus M4A88TD-M, Realtek ALC892, Green Line Out, Rear] No sound at all @bugs.launchpad.net
これによると、背面に位置するジャックからは音声が出力されないようですが、前面ジャックからは出力されるようです。Linuxの標準のサウンドドライバーであるALSAカーネルモジュールのバグであり、上流でも未解決のバグですので、Ubuntuで設定をあれこれしても直りません。
前面ジャックかHDMI出力を検討なさるのがよいでしょう。

PCケースのイヤホンジャックからも音が出ません。
サウンドボードを設置すれば音は出る可能性はあるのでしょうか?

はい出ます。あまり直近のものでなけれれば、市場に出回っているものはたいてい大丈夫でしょう。ただ、動作しないものも確実にありますから、見当をつけたものを以下のALSAウェブサイトで見つけてみると、安心して購入に踏み切れるでしょう。
